近日，南开大学化学学院周震教授课题组发现一种可呼吸二氧化碳电池。这种电池以石墨烯用作锂二氧化碳电池的空气电极，以金属锂作负极，吸收空气中的二氧化碳释放能量。

可充电锂二氧化碳电池的构想迸发于课题组成员苏利伟博士三年前的一次实验。他发现，碳酸盐做锂离子电池负极储锂容量异常高，且在反应过程中产生二氧化碳气泡。此后博士生张彰开始建立锂氧气电池的研究平台，经团队成员反复实验，不断改进电极性能，首次将石墨烯用作锂二氧化碳电池的空气电极，表现出了优异的性能，可连续充放电20次以上。这是截至目前的最高水平。锂二氧化碳电池性能的改善得益于石墨烯的高导电性和大比表面积，为电化学反应提供了良好的场所。

目前尽管可充电锂二氧化碳电池的研究刚刚起步，基本原理尚未完全清楚，而且动力学性能和充放电循环能力很差，还需要继续深入研究。但专家们认为，该研究为推动二氧化碳在能源储存与转化领域中的应用，以及实现锂氧气电池向锂空气电池的飞跃具有重要意义。
