Ross Gowing称对于Codemasters来说，EGO是一个非常棒的引擎，他们也使用这款引擎制作了很多令人难以置信的优秀游戏，但是它已经达到极限了。Codemasters希望他们的游戏舞台能够做得越来越大，视觉效果更加丰富。以目前开发团队的规模与时间，EGO引擎已经无法达到这种高要求了。其实在Codemasters加入EA之前，他们就已经做了这样的评估。所以当时也没有考虑EA内部各大开发工作室普遍使用的寒霜引擎。更换引擎之后，Codemasters要面对的是如何让虚幻引擎真正融入他们的开发习惯中，因为虚幻引擎不是“开袋即食”。不过虚幻引擎拥有良好的扩展性，使Codemasters可以将其物理引擎带入虚幻引擎当中。同时Epic也是一个良好的合作伙伴，其专业团队也与Codemasters保持着联系，帮助他们调整引擎。
